Return to Marietta by Dee Thompson
It’s 1933. America is in the depths of the Great Depression. Lillian Taylor, 8 months pregnant, broke, and with a four-year-old son to support, sets off on dangerous drive from Marietta, Georgia to New York City, to try and persuade her husband Will to return home. Separated from Lillian for several months, he is unemployed, broke and humiliated, far from home and unable to face returning to his family feeling like a complete failure. As Lillian drives, she recalls her courtship and marriage to Will. In 1923 Lillian Taylor was a pretty, headstrong, daring young debutante -- the complete opposite of tall, quiet, gentle Will – yet they were perfectly suited to one another. Lillian thought in 1923 that her life would be filled with glamour and excitement, married to a baseball star, but life threw them a curve ball that ended in Lillian's desperate drive in 1933. Everything is at stake for Lillian; her marriage, her children, possibly even her life.

Marietta is about love, justice, family, baseball, and the longing for home.
