Favor for a Friend by Annie Boone
Amanda argues with her parents about becoming a mail order bride. She does it against their wishes. In fact, she keeps her plans secret and leaves them a note when she goes. She feels guilty, but knows that this is the best thing for all of them.

Sheriff Brock Vickery doesn't want a bride, but he's going to get one. His father has picked out his new wife and it's a woman and a life he knows he doesn't want. He's resigned to doing it out of loyalty to his father. His friend and deputy thinks he has the perfect plan to help Brock get out of a marriage that won't be right for him.

Amanda has no idea that the man she goes to Kansas to marry, didn't place the ad. He didn't correspond with her at all. It was all done by someone trying to do a good deed. She's falling in love with someone who never wanted her. He was planning to send her away all along.

How in the world can this work out in anything other than heartbreak for Amanda? And will Brock realize that the woman for him is already right before his eyes?
