The Slaughtered Virgin of Zenopolis by David Blake
BATHS, BANKS AND ROMAN INSURRECTION
"A well-observed comic novel that is actually, genuinely, laugh-out loud funny."
Stevie O'Connor, Amazon.co.uk

"Very funny, unpredictable, good pace. I'm now reading his second book and so far just as good and just as unpredictable. If you have a sense of humour and want to be amused and entertained this is the writer for you."
Amazon Customer, Amazon.co.uk

"Funny, Flirty, Frantic and Ferocious: A fast read that will almost certainly have you laughing out loud! It's witty, sarcastic, politically incorrect and sexy in a hysterically funny way!!!! You are left wondering what in the world our crazy heroine will get up to next!!!! It's just a sheer blast of fun and solid laughs!!!"
JRTLVR, Amazon.com

"Funny funny funny!!!: Fantasticly funny, loved every page."
Mark Anderson, Amazon.co.uk

"I was laughing out loud within the first 5 minutes. The humor is extremely reminiscent of John Cleese in his best era. Absolutely ludicrous situations in fun settings poking humor at established institutions. Terrifically funny much of the way. Occasionally lost the perspective of what this story was about because there were so many odd bits and characters, many of which were not fully developed or fleshed out, but worth the read. Bought another and expecting/hoping to laugh!"
Georgia Brousseau, Amazon.com

"Absurd comedy of the style Douglas Adams used to grace us with has been in short supply since he left for what has been, I must say, an unreasonably long tea time. Though many have attempted to fill in during his absence, this work comes closer than anything I've since read without sounding like it's specifically trying to fill those sweaty, beer-soaked loafers."

INTRODUCTION
Detective Inspector Capstan investigates a murder at Bath's almost famous Basin Museum, a hapless armed robbery, the theft of ancient Roman weaponry and the answer to “one across” in the local newspaper. Meanwhile, the city is under threat of Roman invasion and their leader, sexy young exhibitionist Becky Philips, is taking no prisoners.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
David Blake is the author of the brand new series of laugh out loud Inspector Capstan books. This first one is a funny British dark comedy that has little mystery and not much murder, but is packed full of fast-paced cosy romantic black humour. Some people have said that it’s been written in the style of the late, great Tom Sharpe, but Tom was a comic genius, David sadly isn’t. This is just a funny, sexy little story that’s available on Kindle, and is about a British detective who’s probably in the wrong line of work. That’s it really, but he’s been told that people do actually “laugh out loud” when they read it, allegedly.

MORE REVIEWS FOR THE SLAUGHTERED VIRGIN
"Think Monty Python meets Blake Edwards meets Tom Sharpe, in this bawdy romp through the tourist hot-bed of Bath. Well written and quick paced, this is a classic English farce, complete with wry nods to the modern cults of celebrity and social media. Perfect for rainy days and long journeys, although will induce snortings and guffawings in public places."
Steve, Amazon.co.uk

"A really enjoyable read, I live near Bath and will never look at it in the same way. Funny and ridiculous, but in a great way, refuses to take itself seriously and just entertains you."
Stugit, Amazon.co.uk

“Funny, quirky, absurd, and silly and all together BRILLIANT: This is a book that is hard to describe. It is funny, quirky, absurd, and silly. It makes fun of the British and their behavior when faced with things they don't expect. It is absolutely laugh out loud funny, a bit spicy and just plain absurd.”
