Shane by Alexis Ashlie
SHANE
To the outside eye, I have the type of life people only dream of. I live in a bustling city, have a good job that allows me to travel around the country and sometimes the world. And I am a handsome man with a lot of money. But my favorite part of the week is not when I am in some exotic destination sipping martinis. It’s when I go back to my small hometown to spend time with my daughter. I do my best to be a good father to her, even though I didn’t have the best start at it. It’s in my hometown that I meet Tina. A beautiful young woman who had a rough upbringing similar to mine, and we share a deep connection. But will those very similarities prove to be our downfall?

TINA
I have always been the mother hen of my group of friends. It’s ironic really, since I don’t even want to be an actual mother. I had the worst kind of role-model and I wouldn’t want to subject a kid to all that strife. But much like a mother whose kids have left the nest, I am left sad and lonely when all of my friends move on with their lives. When I meet Shane, I find myself hopeful that my loneliness is about to end. There is one big problem, though. Shane is a father. How could I ever have a future with him, when he comes with a little human who triggers all of my deep-seated issues?
