Tethered by A.K. Chatham
Paige Peterson had finally found happiness. At sixteen, she had successfully evaded the unstable home, and reckless parents who had bound her. The Academy had given Paige a new start. She was an exemplar cadet, feeling confident, ambitious, and finally accepted. Just when her world was coming together, a unexpected and mind blowing truth hit her in the face thus turning her life in scatter pieces of a once together vase. Now, in a true identity crisis and in absolute disbelief, she is forced to leave her stable self-established life, to pick up and embark on the life of another. Crossing an ocean and fighting for her freedom, Paige lands on the shores of the U.K. to live the life of Anastasia Hutchinson, a stranger to herself and everyone else. Feeling like life couldn't be more unfair, Anastasia begins the journey of a teenager in a "normal" family, with parents who actually have careers, and expectations. As easy and wonderful as this may sound, it wasn’t. She isn't a normal teen and never has been. Ana who refuses her birth name, is thrown into a world of being a daughter, sister and niece. Familial relationships flourish building bonds and a sense of home she relishes, yet set boundaries and trust are broken with impulsive, rebellious behavior and lies. Raging hormones and alcohol induced impulsiveness lead Ana into the darkness, and into the arms of Castin Summers, a college sophomore. Feeling the afterglow of their sexual awakening Ana and Castin loose awareness and are ambushed. Castin is left unconscious on the forest floor, as Ana runs for her life. Ana is lost, only leaving behind an iphone and a puddle of blood. As her family searchs relentlessly, Ana breathes shallowly, lying tied on the moldy dirt of a cave. Ana must reach deep down within herself and beyond the physical pain to find the will to survive and fight for her life.
