Although Emily came to the West as a mail order bride to escape a horrendous man that her parents were pushing on her, she discovers that life in the west is not always the paradise that she imagined it would be.

Ray loves his wife and his congregation, but is stretched thin taking care of both of them. He is trying to protect his church from the sinful business and his wife from her own insecurities, but he feels that he is failing at both. Although he is happy to be married to Emily, he still wonders if he is good enough for her.

While trying to find solutions for the town, Ray discovers more difficulties at home. Emily is not the woman he thought she was. He believed her to be strong, independent and secure, but now that they are married, he is seeing that she is more vulnerable than ever. He can’t understand what is happening to her or figure out how to help her.

In the end, they have to trust God to guide them and find the solutions for all their problems. An epiphany on Ray’s behalf calls them, and the whole town, in action. Will they be able to close down the bordello before it, and its owner devastate their small, simple town? Will their marriage grow stronger under the strain or simply collapse?
