Angry at what he feels is a degrading assignment he trains the princess much as he would one of his men, feeling if the queen chooses to remove him all the better. But as he begins to understand the princess he begins to see much deeper than her rough exterior. When another assassination attempt occurs and it is realized she is the object of the attacks he fears for her safety.
