Bower was heavily influenced in this novel by Buck Conners, a Texas-born actor and director, best known for The Burning Lariat (1913), The Line Rider's Sister (1913) and Reuben's Busy Day (1914). About The Author Bertha Muzzy Sinclair (1871 –1940), best known as B. M. Bower, was an American author of short stories, films and novels about the American Old West. Her stories about the cowboys of the Flying R Ranch in Montana reflected her interest in ranch life. She used working cowboys as main characters in both adventure stories and in romantic plots. Bower paid attention to factual details, including on matters involving cattle branding and bronco busting, which reflected her roots. She was Born Bertha Muzzy in Otter Tail County, MN and grew up in Big Sandy, Montana. She was married three times: including to Bertrand William Sinclair who was also a Western author.
